Does anyone out there have any info regarding a PTO for my 1945 EH? According to the build sheet, the transmission is a TR 51,serial # is 305-27. I want to install a PTO because I now have access to an old military winch which happens to have fairly new cable on it,and I have some projects coming up that would be a bunch easier with the huge winch and the :mack1:

Any info you can share will be gratefully accepted!

I might have you one, a guy i know had a truck repair shop for yrs, i asked him today he is going to look, will know this weekend

Cool-I appreciate you checking it out for me. :thumb:

I'm so in the dark as far as what transmissions use what PTO. I have a couple of PTO units out in the shop, but even the dealer in Reno couldn't venture a guess what they fit. He said each one is built specifically for the transmission and application, and there are no actual records of the build info.

I THINK one is for an old SM420 four speed, the other is air shifted and looks to have a syncro in it,and is substantially bigger. I suspect it's for a Fuller 13 speed, because there were several of those in the same bin I got the PTO from. I guess the only way to find out is to just try mounting it on a 13 speed and see if it works. The guy in Reno mentioned I might have to install a gear in my transmission to drive a PTO :o ,as some transmissions don't come set up for a PTO;I hope that isn't the case on mine.

Has anyone found any websites that have specific information on Power Take Off units, parts breakdowns, parts lists, fitment charts, maybe a drawing of how to set one up correctly? I talked to a couple of people that install tow beds etc. but they didn't know anything about older trucks or applications, and wouldn't offer any actual information to me. It was more"Well, bring it in,and we'll see what we can figure out." (at $90.00 an hour...)

Sorry about all the questions-I just don't have much in this area for informational resources.

Anyway,Thank you all for your help and information! I'd gladly put the names of contributors on the door of the truck for helping me get it ready to work. :D
