Hello, I found a 95 ch613 tandem dump truck I am looking at, it has the e7 350, in it, with a eaton 7 speed Trans.

Question is how is that Trans with the e7, and in a dump, not gonna be used for dirt moving much, mostly for pulling equipment around. Will be plated at 54k so never heavier than that.

I know there are a few things to tune the engine a little I like the truck but just wondering on the Trans. My current single axle mid liner Mack is a 7 speed and it does ok. Just need a little more power for some larger equipment.

Thanks for any thoughts

Most CHs were built as road tractors with 12k and 40k axles on the tandems. Thus this is probably a converted tractor with possibly a stretched wheelbase. With the weight limits in most places limiting the rear axle load to 34k it's effective GVW is only 46k and there's no point in licensing it for more unless you need to pull a trailer. This truck will work OK for on highway use as intended, but for anything more severe you need a proper vocational truck like an RD, DM, or Granite.

Thanks, I figured was a road tractor, doesn't really bother me, I mostly need it for hauling equipment, 28k excavator and a 20 ton trailer. Not much material in the dump box.

The 7 speed just seems not enough for pulling a load around.

My 93 ch has a e7-350 with a super 10 in it and I've got it at 54k and pulling trailer and loads it has no problems. I've never drove one with a 7 so I can't really say what the power difference would be. But if the price is right it would be a good dual purpose truck for your outfit

I got a friend who has a 94 ford; it was an old concrete truck it has the L10 cummins I think 300hp but has the eaton 7LL trans.; other than the weird shift pattern I think it does good for a dump truck; haven't pulled anything with but does good with 14 tons on it

Thanks, asking 14k for the truck. Looks really clean. 575k miles or so. I gotta go drive it and see how the 7 feels, it's just a straight 7, no low or anything else. Seems like the same as my 88 cm400, but with more hp. Thanks for the inputs
