I remember back in the day there was a hold-out that wouldn't sell when they were building casinos in Atlantic City. The developer need the space for a parking garage.I think the final offer to her was $1 mil. + plus a new Cadillac every year + free housing and buffet in the hotel for life. No dice, she wouldn't sell. After some legal wrangling they built the parking garage around and OVER her house. The part Over the house isn't shown in this photo but I'm sure I remember seeing it finished over the top. The state even tried to take it by eminent domain, but she held on. I think the parking structure has since been demolished and the property finally sold at auction to Carl Icahn for about $535K.
