Or, rather then go thru the expense of rebuilding a 12+ year old truck (not knocking the idea), you can buy a new Fitzgerald glider kit with a pre-emissions proven and reliable Series 60 Detroit, and choose from Kenworth, Peterbilt and Freightliner.

One thing you gotta remember when you rebuild older trucks, if you wreck them, you're screwed. Had a '81 valueliner, totally rebuilt, new rears, twin stick spd, and motor. It was repainted to. Basically showroom new. Driver fell asleep and totalled it. Insurance wanted to give us $12,000. I showed them what we had into the truck and I was told "thats unfortunate" We did end up with $18,000, but that was nowhere near what we stuck in it.

Cant you just insure for a agreed value ??

Just need to purchase gap insurance for the difference in book value and the real value.
