Today, we learn that the police officer who shot and killed a 19-year-old black criminal has been fired. The criminal refused to surrender when asked, and instead decided to try and run away. Christian Taylor was caught in the act of robbing a car dealership.

(The media keeps mentioning that he was a college football player........why? It has no connection with his criminal acts)

Did the officer use excessive force? Only the officer knows. But I've long wondered why effective stun guns are not utilized.............we have that technology.

What irks me is the family portraying the man as a "fine young man", when he obviously was not. Clearly, his parents did not instill in him the universally accepted good morals and ethics, and the correct sense of right and wrong, that create "a fine young man".

A "fine young man" ??? Sorry, I'm just not seeing that here..........are I observe is a destructive individual committing blatant criminal acts.

1. Listen to the cops even if they are in the wrong. Court is the place to argue with the law.

2.Our media should be ashamed and prosecuted for sensatoinalizing stories that have literally caused riots and deaths just for ratings.

3. The public should be ashamed for letting this go on AND believing it. See above.

4. By simply going off of what you reported kscarbel that the criminal was shot running away yeah that's excessive IF he simply turned and ran. The criminal shouldve listened to the cops. That being said we don't know if the criminal struggled with the officer or reached in his waistband etc. so it's a little early for reasonable people (not the media) to come to any solid conclusion.

5. The media should again be prosecuted in my opinion for spinning any story, especially inflammatory ones like this. Like you said he's not a fine upstanding citizen he likely is a young career criminal that white, male usually conservative Christians that have kept him down which is why he is acting out.

nope, system is definitely broken. when you are committing a crime and caught and told to stop by a cop, with a weapon, you stop, whether your right or wrong. so lets fire the cop for doin his job. same with someone trespassin on your land, you can threaten them, shoot them to protect yourself, then they or their family gets to sue you after. sittin at a red light minding your own business, someone hits your in the ass, their insurance company and them get to sue and argue it was your fault, same ole same ole...

I am sorry to have to disagree with you Kscarbel, religion has no part in politics or business, religion is personal and how they want to live there life based on there beliefs. So before I am labeled a left wing liberal which I am not, I did go to catholic schools for my education and so have my two daughters and that was of there choosing. My religious views are my own and government has no right being in religion and vise versa. I also think that President Obama has been a horrible president not based on race but he has no policy and is indecisive and leads based on polls plain and simple. If you vote you have the right to complain and if you don't participate in the system then don't complain if you don't like the results and I am not saying that to infer that no one here doesn't but more in what I tell my daughters.,,,,,Just my feelings

I watched an episode of the Dukes of Hazzard last week... first time I've seen it in 20 years or more. Would you believe that Bo and Luke had black buddies... seriously there were black comrades of "the Dukes". Had a fast car and pissed off Boss Hogg.

Race relations were the best they've ever been in the 80's.

Yes I most certainly knew, and the founding fathers also made sure to include the " Separation of Church and State" My religious views are mine and yes guide my values, but my values don't trump another's views and I don't want my politics decided by some one religious views, we all don't share the same religion and yes there is probably one god but he has different names and that is fine.

The 10 commandments are a good guideline for anyone, of any religion and any race to live their life by. I do not want any religion in government. Because we are a democracy we'd have to include all religions in government. And EVERY religion has radicals. Whatever beliefs I have with my god is my own decision. But I should still have to follow the law. And the law should have nothing to do with religion.
