Nice truck. Why are you removing the air start? Too much hassle for you? I'm one of the dumb guys that is working to put it ON my truck. I ain't too smart sometimes............... well a lot of times.

I'd look for a double over triplex or quad. That will give you the long legs you desire. Finding a 4.00 double reduction gearset is hens teeth. Mine came with 4.62 and that is pretty fast compared to most of the B models I know of. Just bobtailing, you can run it 65-70 and it won't break a sweat.

Now, I am on the fence about the air starter..... Just worried about being out somewhere and it not cranking. Maybe I should consider carrying a gasoline powered air compressor?

Yes, the quad is beginning to make all kinds of sense to me.

Mark

it will fit, if you take the e brake off the back. also might have the change the bell housing on trans. some had 3/8 bolts in the bell on the engine and some had 7/16. not a big deal.

Okay, that is great information to have. Thanks!

Does that eliminate the ebrake or does the quad have some other ebrake configuration?

Mark

eliminates the E brake and youd have to put on maxi cans on the rear wheels unless it already has them. also you can reuse your old bell from the duplex if the newer trans has the bigger bolts. and no fear of runnin out of air..... you have six tires to drain and refill and your back on your way, just carry 15 foot of hose!

I'm still working on getting a tank to install my air start. Found one, but local parts place bumped the price from $25 to $350 before I could call. Still want $250 for it now if I recall. No brackets. Someday.
