Its sad that those days are over. Dad always said that he enjoyed the Maxidyne/Maxitorque because he had driven so many twin stick 5x4's and could relax when put in 5th gear. I've seen a lot changes over the past 35 years since I joined dad full time here at Tulsa Mack. I'm glad I have my 59 B61 in the showroom. It brings back simpler times in trucking and dealing with the changes at the corporate level at Mack Trucks, Inc. RIP Maxidyne.

Reminds me of an exhibition race at Brainard International Raceway road course back in the 70s or 80s. They had a bunch of international race stars there for a big race, and the owner of Advance-United, a Mack fleet, was a big fan of sports car racing. So they had a couple lap exhibition race in standard Advance-United R models with Maxidynes and Maxitorque 5 speeds! The Maxidynes were easy for the these trucking newbies to adapt to, and the race was completed without as much as a scratch in the Macks!

I'm driving a 1990 rd 690s that my boss just bought this past December. It had 349000 on it it now has 355689 now em6 300l seven speed Trans pulling a 78 axle Fram less the owners manual says "the l stans fit low speed shift acordingly" run it every day best unit ever
