The scale was open in Danbury Conn and he thought we had better stop even tho it is registered as non commercial antique. After an extended wait in line we made it to the scale house. As we sat on the scale for a few minutes the officer leaned out the window to ask what year it was. And yes a lot of the Diesel cops like to look at the older vehicles.. On our way to Des Moines IA The Iowa scale lady (50 y/o +/-) pulled me around back, and basically all she wanted to know was if the Diamond T in my trailer was mine and not for sale, making sure I was NOT commercial.. Do not know if she noticed the farm plates on my 3500?? He brought with him the DOT manual on how to adjust the brakes. Empty place but he held me on the scales for a few minutes. I assumed for a good look and maybe a picture? Got the green and away I rolled. Ohio changed their signs to "commercial trucks", so I roll by. CHP couldn't understand how we could have a truck that big and not need CA and DOT numbers. Finally convinced him that the Antique plates don't require all that BS and he let us go. Claimed he worked in the scalehouse previously and had never heard of such a thing. Good thing he didn't look too close. Had a pretty good fuel leak at the throttle shaft on the Cummins. I never really had any trouble with them, but I understand that scale can be a real pain in the ass. The right side fuel tank on the B42 finally sprung a leak in the step area. I've been watching it for a while and it finally started dripping. I had it repaired, but haven't had the time to paint and remount it. So that's out of service. Saturday, I went to use my BMW and it started skipping and running rough, with the dashboard lighting up. Tried to diagnose it myself, but it's beyond my capabilities. Found a place that specializes in BMW's and hauled it to them to fix. Now I don't want to touch anything else for fear it might break, too. I did get to use my new strap system on the B73 and play with it. The BMW is difficult to tie down, due to the low hanging bodywork.
