Removed drag link on our 2008 cxu today but concerned of how i had to do it. Even using a pickle fork it would not budge and didn't want to use heat so i had to give it multiple whaps with the hammer. My concern is the stress it may have put on the arm off the steering box and arm off front wheel assembly. Everything is fine obviously(arms didn't break) just was curious if this is typical. Thanks

I have a puller. loosen the nut but don't remove it. Put a bit of tension on the stud and give the knuckle a rap. Usually pops off. You can do the same with the pickle fork. hit it into the joint to put tension on it and give the pitman arm a rap on the end. 99% it will pop.

The stress from the pickle fork is generally on the pitman arm and the socket on the drag link. Both are drop forged and heat treated.
