Ryder Project Rebirth: The Story of one Truck's Death & Redemption

Recommended Posts

Just as bad as the rest of reality tv.

Magically, the truck is done on time, everyone has a spotless uniform and every conceivable part, widget or gizmo is on the shelf waiting for this piece of rolling excrement to come through the door.

It doesn't cost anything to pay attention.

biggest challenge Ryder faced? Finding decent looking "lady" wrenches- yes wrenches-not wenches! -and if my wife saw this post I would be dead!-make that..."deader"

Agree by the way with everyone elses posts- duh- yep gross physical damage-how is your eyesight!

To pull a motor out overhaul it and put it back in in less than 16 hours. If you took your truck to Ryder and had the same thing done it would take over 40 hours. I have to call this like I see it bullshit.

This is Mack country. On a quiet night you can hear a peterbilt rust away.

What's with all the hating on Volvo trucks? Just because the company is trying to borg Mack doesn't mean their trucks are bad. Say what you will about the company, but I'd rather drive a Volvo than a Freightliner or Navistar!

Agreed, or a Freightliner, both are junk. Volvo just does odd things sometimes. For example, they'll have a 13mm nut head attached to 15mm bolt head. A pinnacle front spring hanger is not serviceable by itself. You have to replace the whole engine crossmember with both spring hangers riveted to it even though the all parts are available by themselves. Rivets yes, like 1/2" rivets are used not hucks.

Well,if you have to ask

Was just fondly remembering the lusty moan of a V8 Superliner pulling a 17 axle doubles "train" at DeSmet, South Dakota... Gross weight around 170,000 pounds. Haven't seen that Superliner since, but a 700+ HP Scania V8 would make a fine replacement! If Scania comes back to America the product introduction should be in South Dakota, where a Scania would put the mere 600 HP Paccar products to shame!

Why set your sights so low? A Volvo?

We're going to create some truck bumper decals for the US market Volvos but are still debating the language.

Some current ideas are:

I know, I know.....but my other truck's a Scania

In my next life, I hope to come back as a Scania

When I grow up, I'm going to be a Scania

I should have bought a V-8 (Scania)

Better my Sister in a Wh*re House than my Brother in a Volvo
