1990 8v 92 rear engine in fire truck while driving it will act like u turn key off. When u lift foot off throttle it will idle but as soon as you open throttle it will shut down. I have no active codes but stored codes are 16 31 32 35 41 42 44 46 51 62 63 65 any help would be greatly appreciated.

Let me see what the Detroit Diesel Fairy says about those codes. First thing he will say though is that the best thing you can do is to put that piece of shit out of it's misery- drain the oil out of it and firewall the governor. Then replace with a 300 Maxidyne. Is this in an E-Won't Hush?

Have you checked all the simple stuff first? Bad load of fuel? Have you checked the fuel filters and fuel/water separator?

Will get back to you.

TWO STROKES ARE FOR GARDEN TOOLS

OK, the Detroit Fairy reports the following:

16- coolant level

31- engine brake

32- cel/sel 1587 communication problem

41- too many srs

42- too few srs

44- engine temp too high

46- battery volts too low

51- turbo temp (doubt it has one??)

62- output fault ecm connections

63- pwm pulse width modular (doubt it has one??)

65- throttle valve (check for air filter restriction)

16, 31, 32, 35, 41, 42, 44, 62 are all related to sensor harness. Maybe bad harness, maybe corrosion. All could be from connection issue at ecm. Detroit Diesel Fairy suggests running it without the air filter to see what happens. And as I predicted he also suggested draining all crankcase oil before you run it and quote "drive it like you stole it, and all of your problems will go away."

Maybe FWD is coming out of the DD closet

Success is only a stones throw away.................................................................for a Palestinian

The Detroit Diesel Fairy on speed dial hates them just as much (possibly more) than I do. And just because I hate them does not mean that I do not possess knowledge of them. Remember what Don Vito Corleone told Michael- "keep your friends close, and your enemies closer."

Fuel filters have ben changed as well as tank drained. It does have turbo. Voltage on guage in dash reads 12 volt untill you go above idle and this isue is there wether all the pretty lights are on or not. By the way it is an e- one an there wiring sucks to put it nicely i will check all the wire connections an see what i get. I have been told to replace throttle position sensor an that will fix it. We are a small fire co with little funds so i dont want to throw parts at it if not needed

Turbo temp- meaning pyrometer......The Fairy said he doubts it has one, meaning a Pyrometer.

Measure the voltage at the TPS with the accelerator pedal to the floor. It should be no more than 4.5 volts no more. If it is over it causes the system to try and re calibrate and will cause the dead pedal feeling and the flutter.
