Our "Americans"

Together with other international benefits to the former Union after adjustment poured and trucks. A special place among them occupied the "Americans". Recall, as they were then, and it was now ...

I must say that American "tracks" in the USSR has always been from the very beginning, when a copy of Ford and coaches started our factories, and a "lend-lease" in WWII; and thereafter, until the collapse, spices from us purchased and dismantled by cog basic models of different companies. But it was the "single action", and after the restructuring has been a lot of them, and in everyday life ... 01. This is probably the oldest of our road "amerikosov" the beginning of perestroika. This famous Kenworth W923 lives in the Soviet Union since 1973 already. Work on it in the driver bought his property in the late '90s, and led him to the last time. The car took more than three million kilometers, when the old two-stroke engine was replaced in the Cummins NTC, - and again got into operation. 02. Americans love not only Russian drivers. Brothers Ukrainians, too, appreciated the advantages shtatovskih sleeping, even style dog-box, as in this tractor Ford LNT-9000. Photo by Alexander Krivchikov 03. Belarusians, too, at one time met some very interesting cars. This beskapotnik GMC Astro (produced until 1987) with marvelous MAZ trailer at the time met not only in Minsk, but also in Moscow and in St. Petersburg. Photo by Vladimir Chehuty 04. At first, by the way, beskapotnikov US had more - they even let at home. But in the beginning of the century there was canceled length restrictions, and they began to lose popularity. Late White HC was a rarity, and here and there, but the whole lot of them used to take containers on the highway M10. 05. There were with us and meet the bonnet, like this White WIA from the Krasnodar Territory. 06. Sometimes, on country roads could be found at all rare cars like the truck Mack RL with a sleeping bag and step-headlights. 07. And this is probably the rarest among the machines of the then-known companies. Cabover Peterbilt 's 372 with "by diesel" forms were released only 772 pieces in five years. Several of these machines was in the Lithuanian company, vozivshey loads in St. Petersburg. 08. Of course, the most common among the "Americans" we have been there the leader of the market - Freightliner. Including its beskapotniki FLA 9664. 09. Most of those years were imported Capote "Fred" Series FLD. Among them were many "carrots" (orange color on the company's carrier Schneider), sometimes in unexpected trim as the SD (Severe Duty) with a 4x2. 10. Their closest competitors in the number of performed beige beskapotniki International 9800 from the company JBHunt. 11. But there are other models of "Inter" -SOE as the 9600 (front axle is shifted forward) with a long but low-sleeper sleeper Pro. 12. Some very unusual American cars from the Belarusian residence permit appeared in Moscow. Military "558 Aircraft Repair Plant" from Baranovichi owned Fords F-900, and as a tractor. Without sleeping, even with the archaic axle trailers, they resembled "prihoroshenny" ZIL-130. 13. Gradually, the most common "Americans" became Freightliner Century class (we call it "Tsenturik"). Importer, company Goodwill, even shortened them, so that you can carry, "trunks" of Finland. 14. A cabover "Freda" were replaced by "Argosikov" (Argosy). They used to also altered. This turned into a 4-osnuyu alone on the same company Goodwill. 15. The bonneted "Inter" were also very popular with us as the party of the models of 9400. 16. The last mass family is still Freytlaynera Columbia. And, it seems, forever, as imports from the United States to a halt. 17. But while on our roads can meet interesting machine, and not only to "Dalnoboy." Here, for example, a rare Sterling L8500 (Brand liquidated in 2009, belonged Freytlayneru), as the truck on the Peter CADE. 18. A version of the heavy truck Mack Granite with three drawbridges carries the body weight, comparable to the weight of the semi-trailer. 19. It is very unusual with a tractor-trailer Western Star 4800 with the manipulator continues to carry Vtorchermet in Kiev. Photo by Alexander Krivchikov 20. There are American "truck" and the middle classes. This 12-ton Kenworth T300 carries a special unit for transplanting trees. 21. From the latest models in our market caught tractors Mack Viseon, by number, however, is far behind the competition. 22. Trend in modern times Aerodynamic "zalizannost" form causes outwardly machines become more and more similar to each other. This is - a modern Peterbilt 387. 23. It should be noted that, unlike the European, Japanese and Korean firms, the Americans have not honored at the opening production facilities in Russia. The only exception - Pushkin Goodwill, which established an assembly machine here. This Russian International 9800i - one of a kind, such machines still collected only in Brazil and South Africa. 24. A single "kapotnik" assembled in Russia - International Workstar 7600 all the same, "Goodwill". However, after a few hundred assembled machines manufacturing closed ... They have become very popular due to several advantages: reliability, simplicity, maintainability. As well as a high level of comfort and outstanding appearance. But they were good in another era - privateers single. Alas, those days are, and with them go and "Americans" ...

I'm pretty sure that's one of the pair Vlad has,
