Hello,

I have a '72 CF 685 with a manual trans. A lot of times when shifting into 3rd or 5th gear the shift hits the pump shift lever and knocks back into pump gear. As you may know the only way to get it out of pump gear while you're moving is to stop the rig, shut it down and go back to road mode. I can't have this happening while I'm on a main road or merging onto a highway. Is there a way to lock the pump shift lever into road mode so this doesn't happen?

Thanks

you should be able to attach a loop to the pump lever and then fasten a rod on a swivel hooked to the rear of the cab or such that will lock the pump lever into the road position to keep the entanglement from knocking it into pump mode.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did look around a bit and came up with a few options to secure it in road mode but I was more wondering if there was something I wasn't seeing. My rig along with others I've seen have a bungee cord folded 1/3 of the way over and bolted near the rear cab wall. I don't know what it's for but thought maybe it served a purpose for this. I also originally thought the T handle for the pump shifter had a quarter turn to lock it in place but it does not.
