Does not take a brain surgeon to understand that if the truck makers had worked on increasing fuel mileage that would have had a better effect on air quality, Double MPG cut in half pollutants and lower need for imported oil, not to mention less ships floating around burning bunker oil, instead less MPG, more fuel burned, more imported oil, more drilling in less developed countries with no pollution controls and somehow that was the answer the libs came up with.

XL pipeline would be built if the owner of the railroad that hauls all the oil now would buy into the pipeline but then his railroad would not have a monopoly on the oil transported from the tar sands.

The EPA is needed to protect the environment not become a political tool of party in office, that is what O crap for brains has done, just like the IRS, you go against the great leader and see what happens to you. Socialism being prohibit any private property for production sources functioned collecting some part of people's labour value to conduct it to different economical funds. So that was the same princip as a tax collecting, just not by means of money although natural labour.

The trouble with that system was right in the poor control on the government functioning due to the authorized kind of that government and as follow low efficience of their work and bad economy.

Some ones have different points of view such as influence of the war and Cold war politics but I think a system has it's hard stability being perfect and efficient. And vice versa.

its all bull shit! sorry guys but we had more dependable equipment in the late 80's and 90's than we have now! sure you dont see smoke come out of a exhaust pipe but we don't see any real improvement in m.p.g. verses the added expense of all the mandated b.s. not to mention the other effects of Clean exhaust like a 1000 degree temp, makes you want to head for a wheat field with that now don't it!

Reminds me of the TV commercial from several years ago showing a T2000 and a clean cut all American boy trucking some New Mexican two lane, touting technology that "made the air exiting the exhaust cleaner than the outside air". . . Even showed a cartoon rainbow flowing from the stack and coloring the country side. Can't remember who paid for it, but the rainbow was a bit much for me to take as anything but political.

Old time trucker who lived next door used to tell me that they could get 7 mpg with tandem dump Thermodyne's in the 50's.... couldn't wrap his head around what was so great about DDEC's getting 6.8-7.... "They call that progress?" he'd say... He died before DPF's came online....
