someone would steal a fire ext.at a show?

They steal entire vehicles! A few years ago we had an 1969 AMC Pro Street AMX stolen right out of the NYC Javits Center. Seen petty theft at Carlisle at the Mopar meet only "little" things like trim, center caps, exhaust tips. . .stuff you cannot easily replace.

12 years ago we drove my 1941 Chevy Ragtop from Long Island N.Y. to Chicago to the start of Rte 66 to the Fishing Pier in S.F. parked it at night in the motel parking lots. No alarms just faith and locked doors Nothing stolen. Would not try that now! Paul

Wish I would have known you were bidding on the one with the #13 on it........could have saved you a few bucks!!! I think it was just you and I at the end

Sorry man! I am never sure about who to let know I'm bidding on something. I am out of the Mack extinguisher market for now unless the price is too low to pass on.

Good idea with the lock. I haven't put the extinguisher on the AC because I don't want it to disappear

I remembered you telling me that and I have been thinking of a possible solution since then. I wouldn't purchase an extinguisher for the truck unless I could figure out a solution to display it.

You really wouldn't have to weld the tab to the extinguisher; just make it a "U" shape at the top and hook it over the handle. The lock cylinder does not need to be welded to the running boards either; if the lock were enclosed on both sides by a welded cover on the cylinder it could be slipped over the tab and secured with the lock against the bottom of the running board.

I have never had any issues at any show, but some items are so hard to find that I just don't want to tempt fate. The last three Mack extinguishers I saw sell at an auction before the ones I bought went for $1000.00 to $1200.00 each. Even at less than $500.00 each I paid, their loss would be hard to take.

The nozzle is even rarer; I have only seen one other and it sold for $600.00 as soon as it hit the market. Like Paul said it is the small hard to replace items that seem to walk.

Money, sex, and fire; everybody thinks everyone else is getting more than they are!

I know of two nozzles......one was rough and the other was it nice shape.

Buy 'em if you can. I can make the rough one look like new.

Are you looking for an extinguisher for the L model or to put on a shelf?

I see what you mean

carl ,are you bidding on the 32 mack on ebay ??

I would love to, but no money or room keeps me from going for it. I tried to talk a friend into it, but he won't bite.

I saw one at Hershey that was nice and $1000.00 asking price. Didn't buy that one. I did find one on Craigslist a couple of years ago that was a floor lamp. $100 later and it's mine. It's pristine too with the exception of the hole in the top. I would absolutely lock it to the truck like everything else. Stuff walks at shows. My buddy has a death stare on his 55 vette as apparently people will take the gas cap off it as correct ones are $$$ and hard to find.

Sad but true.
