When they are turned up you have to watch the pyro, and back out of it when she hears up, my 96 Pete has 3406c 425 cranked up and she does a great job against the 3406e 550 and the c15 550 ,sometimes I can get them when the air temp is right

I worked for Cat for several years...the early B models had some power but then they messed around with things. When we set the timing we'd advance it just a skosh and it would help a lot. The injectors and AFR make a big difference too.

Yeah, there were some early B models that ran great right out of the box, but some where along the way (like a couple of three model years they did things to them (probably smog related) that changed the power output and it seemed after that they just weren't ever as good of a design ( lots of guys had multiple head gasket/and or liner seal problems...and the step timing apparatus was a problem too.

Don is right, we use the slang bulldozer engine meaning a Cat. Sorry about that. this engine is a cross between a 3406 B and C.Just a Peterbilt engine that came from a 359 and has had some work done to it. Steve

Dave has nearly completed this project. Only needs to build an air intake snorkle to air cleaner. Nice looking job.He has had it out and says it really put some bark into the old bulldog

Put some external air cleaners on it, she'll breathe better, nice job
