Wheel balance weights for alloy wheels

Greetings,

First post. A few years ago I balanced my 5 ton combat wheels (steel, 2 piece, modular, tubeless) with 12 oz BTLM uncoated lead weights, I am getting ready to balance my V100 wheels. The V's wheels are the same size (10x20) but are lock ring style/ tube type. They are extremely rare. The flanges about 30% heavier than, say, my deuce or half or 5 ton. The BTLM's clip is not going on the V wheels without a fight. I tried bending one in a vice, half heatedly. It looks like spring steel. It said I'm still not going anywhere without a fight. So, I decided to look around for what is available for, say, big rig alloy wheels. None of my local big truck tire shops have em. They don't have lead anymore, either. So, I don't know-

1.) If alloy style weight even work (clip width/ weight profile)

2.) If they do work, what to look for (style, manufacturer, part #....??)

I can add that the 5 ton took 1-1/2 lbs of weight on wheels that had new, round, Goodyear AT2T's and 3-5 lbs on a few that need to be shaved (1/4" will really shake a 22k lb truck). The 5 ton drum alone took 16 oz to balance. The V is getting a set of AT2T for street duty. I also have a set of NOS run-flats, very rare, they will only see shows and parades. I still want to balance em as this is a 60mph vehicle. Tires are 1400x20. The run-flats are heavy, maybe 300lb ea (w/o the wheel). I'll go to PA to get lead.

I don't know what you have for truck tire dealers in your area,but the one I take my front tires to for balancing uses strips of lead weights with tape on the back stuck on the inside of the rim.

Thanks, but for me it is not an option. I'm stuck on clip-on. Old school I guess. Jim

Graingers sells clip on lead weights from 1 to 6 ounces for medium and heavy trucks. they may be what you need,

We started running the beads inside the tire and have been getting along pretty good with them. Not sure if they would work for your setup but you don't have to mess with any wheel weights.

Sounds like you could weld a crescent wrench onto the rim for weight.

Ya, figure out close to what you need, cut a radius piece of steel and tack it on the back. Kinda what they do with brake drums.

Thanks for the comments. Beads give me the creeps. Not sure if they work for tubes. I think BTLT's are for steel wheels. I'd like to get my hands on one just to see how it lays on the rim. I saw a nice big box of evil lead 12oz on line. Hate to get them only to find they don't work. Looked at Graingers, every where else I could think of too. Not knowing what to look for gets me to the same dead ends. Welding. Never thought of that one. Maybe if I have trouble bending the BTLM clips. Might be just a matter or using more force or annealing the clip. Hopefully someone while chime in with some info on alloy wheel weights.
