Hello Good People !

I am located in Carson City, Nv . I have been given the honorable opportunity to take care of and restore a part of our city's fire department history. This veh. is a 1948 Mack 505 Hosewagon ( no pump). It seems to be rare since Mack used the 505 as a mid size pumper. The history is that this Mack was in mid build when the original customer cancelled the order. Carson City's Warren Engine Company #1 had placed an order with Mack for a Hose wagon. Mack offered the fire pumper but the Chief at the time wanted a hosewagon. Thus Truck 3 was born. It has always been confusing since this was a post war build and is thought to have 1947 & 1948 parts. It has been protested at musters.

Anyhooooo.. long story longer this fireman got tired of watching this truck rot and I am working toward a goal of making this our city's Honor Guard veh. I would like to keep as much original spec.s and parts .Currently trying to find a replacement for the Fram C147 canister oil filter and a replacement headlight switch. Does anyone know of reproduction ignition wiring harnesses ( dual ignition) I did locate 12 replacement spark plugs. So thank you for being here and reading this . Any help will be greatly needed.

Bob :)

Bob,

Great to hear about another Old Mack Firetruck being rescued, especially a rare piece like the one you have. Good Luck!

The Brillman Company www.brillman.com 888- 274-5562 can make up new wiring harnesses for the dual ignition system. I think you have a 707 so they have distributors on the right side of the engine and spark plugs on the left side so requires a long harness to reach. Brillman can remake the harnesses in the original Packard 440 wire.

Let us know what else you need , we hopefully can steer you in the right direction,

Firemack
