Had enough snow last week to make about anything. Heading out to work Monday morning- I had a van load of kyanite already loaded at the yard going to Chester, W.V. I took this on I 64 in Va, so I could compare it to how crappy the road would be in West Virginia... but they surprised me. I was expecting the usual "2 tracks in the right lane" all the way to Beckley, but it was all clear. A load of little piggys. I went from Chester to Akron,Ohio to get 8 pallets of synthetic rubber going to Bedford, Va, about 20,000 lbs.Passed by Freighttrain's place, I think this is his garage that he keeps his race car in. Saw a pretty neat looking old wooden bridge across the street from where I unloaded in Bedford. Then I had to drop the van and go back to work. Took a five coil load to Greensboro, then went to Roanoke and got this ugly-ass load of structural steel going to Clarksburg, Md. It looked pretty high, so I measured it- 13-4. I've seen a couple of them lately but don't remember ever seeing them before. Their website said they've been in binness since 1989. They're out of Quebec. Catchy name! I got to Clarksburg about 7pm. I stopped at Broadway on the way and got a bite to eat, and I got a big submarine sammich about 4 feets long to take with me because they said they probably wouldn't start unloading any trucks until about 9 or 10 in the morning. But I ate it when I got there... I saw the sun coming up Friday morning- Crane boom- Some 'quipment- Had several snow flurries pass through while I was there. Dozer working the road- they had to keep the top scraped off because that red dirt was slicker than ice when it was wet. Saw a flock of those wild puhterradactiles passing by. and more snow flurries... ...and I finally got unloaded late yesterday evening. The mud was terrible, two of us tore mudflaps off the trailer backing in. After they washed the mud off the tires I left at 5:15- a little over 22 hours on this jobsite I hope I never have to go to again, but probably will. And I saw this picture of this old truck on the interweb, but I couldn't make out what it is because it's a little blurry... 15 Quote Producer of poorly photo-chopped pictures since 1999. other dog Posted January 30, 2016 Author Share Posted January 30, 2016 I got to Concord about 10 o'clock last night, and the blue truck wouldn't start. The battery was low- It started fine Wednesday, when I drove it down to the bank, and I hadn't left anything on. So I got my jumper cables out and started the other blue truck and pulled down to the blue truck and jumped it ,started right up. I'll test the battery with the battery testing device at the shop. It was...I don't remember what it was called, but it's channel 364 on Directv. It had Daniel Boone, The Virginian, High Chaparrel, The Big Valley, Bonanza, and more old shows. I remember watching The Virginian with my grandfather when I was just a kid. I watched it today for the first time in almost 50 years, good show.I was trying to get "Everest" on the pay per view thing, but I never could figure out how. I've read Jon Krakauer's book "Into Thin Air" about 8 times and really wanted to see the movie, which is based on the book. Maybe it'll end up in the discount bin at the Wal Mart store some day.
