I have an 1989 Mack DMM 6906S that has a E6 225 motor. It has a T2050 transmission with this on the side 9L 1228 11KBA51406AP1 It also has an air hi/lo split transfer case and the rear ends say Hayes Dana 18918188 190F4409-P3 This truck is a silage truck with a 30 foot box and I dropped the transmission in it but it seemed so under power that I was wondering what type of transmission I could put in against my motor that I could have a little more range in between the gears so I can drive along the cutter at about 4-5 MPH and be able to get up to speed decently when loaded and be able to get up to 55-60 MPH so I can get back to the field fast to keep the cutter running. I understand that if I change transmission I may have to cut or lengthen drive shafts and I am OK with doing that. I would just like to be able to keep using the truck if possible, otherwise I will have to go a different route because I do not want to put another 5-speed in and have it just like it was before. What are your thoughts on what I should do.

Thanks!!

The T2050 has a first gear ratio of 5.24 and .60 for fifth and a reverse gear of 5.38.

The T2080 (8 spd) has a first gear of 20.08 and high gear of .60 with a single reverse gear of 5.38

The T2080B would be the same as the T2080 except it has three reverse gears at 17.62, 10.25 and 5.82.

It doesn't cost anything to pay attention.

11KBA51406AP1 is your transmission's assembly part number. With that, a Mack parts person can look up all the parts.

Changing over to a T2060 (9.02/0.60) or T2070 (14.16 / 0.60) would help, but realize you only have a 225hp engine.

Thank you for the information. I understand that number could be used for that, but I asked for an output shaft for my transmission, but they are not made anymore, and I would have to upgrade to the 3 series and I don't know if that pays.

I understand it might be best to change my rear ends but I am not looking to do that if I can get it to work the way it is.
