So why wouldn't they just make them all lower rpm higher hp assuming the high rpm doesn't/can't make 400hp @1700?

The problems we face today exist because the people who work for a living are outnumbered by the people who vote for a living.

The government can only "give" someone what they first take from another.

Mack. . . always keep you guessing. I was talking to a guy who says he has an E9 mated to a six speed... So that'd be a EM9-400R then?

Fun is what they fine you for!

A Maxidyne engine will hold on right down to 800 rpms Its not the best thing for em but they generate good power even below 1000 rpm!

It is real amazing! Huge power band As for the R never seen one sorry! Might be as stated Restricted upper rpm duno!

The M meant MAXIDYNE if I'm not mistaken. And the torque curve was way different then the E9 👈🏻 econodyne.

Been so so long since I looked all that up I can't remember off the top of my head. But FJH is steering you in the right path.

The conventional Maxidyne has a power band from 1200 to 2100 RPM. With an R suffix the governor is set for around 1800 RPM, reducing the power band to 1200 to around 1800 RPM. Their was also an L suffix version of the six cylinder Maxidynes that shifted the power band down to around 1000 to 1800 RPM.

So if we turn 400R up to 2100rpm's would it bring its whole 500?

And who is fjh? Bob Dingsdale??

Higher power band is for OTR I would think.

To get the power band up is the governor and I  believe advancing the cam to crank timing, You still have 400 h.p. but at 300 RPM higher.   Paul

Just a review, but, is there any R-E-A-L hard differences other than pump, injectors, timing, and turbo between an '82 EM9-400R or say a '93 CL E9-500?

I've heard time and time again there is no difference between a 237 and a 350 two valve.... other than pump, injectors, etc...

Oh, and one more thing.... what about EM'C'9-400R
