Have a 98 Cl713, and whilst driving the engine power cuts out, kicks in, cuts out, and im left playing with the fuel pedal to try and bring he back to life in those few seconds.

any ideas? could it be a sending unit for the fuel? or maybe the pedal entirely needs to be changed?

any help is much appreciated..

Start with connecting a good pressure gauge and a long hose up to the fuel system and take it down the road maybe loaded and watch the fuel pressure then  come back and tell us what you see.

Yup fuel pump gears have been a problem in the past!

As long as you got no fault light !

Hey,

thanks for all the help!

the elec. Malfunction light comes on every so often but doesnt wanna stick around.

we've changed the injectors & pumps to see if this straightens it out.

we had her plugged in, and a fault for injector 3 was there... but not sure if its the enjector, or a harness issue.

Ya need to see what codes ya got! No point in throwin parts at it  till ya know what your shooten  at! Point being  here you need to start ruling stuff out !  IT Could be  the  throtle pedal glitchin , CODES or WHAT is the fuel pressure running at? put a guage in and drive  Is it consistent? you could have a plugged tank vent . a bad drain back valve! floatie in the fuel tank ,a flapper in a fuel line !   OR    And Don't laugh!  Seen this at least three times >  Rocks in a  Primary filter elbow!!!

Running out of fuel under load!

this might be way off, BUT, check under the throttle pedal. I was having similar issues and found the plastic pin was broken.

replaced with a bolt.

it is a plastic roll pin type that connects the pedal to the roller. flip it over and you will see it
