A sledge hammer to the brake drum usually loosens them up for removal. I have pulled the complete hub and pressed them out. As far as your blue smoke question I'm not sure it's valve seals could be setting on pump would clear that up.

To remove the brake drum you would need to remover the wheel brg nuts and slide the hub off the axle tube.Then look inside and you will see the bolts that hold the drum on to the gub.Just remove the six bolts and drum drops off.As for as blue smoke on start up that is not all that uncommon but timing needs checked as well as injectors need removed and pop tested.It sepends on how bad the smoke is but it also could be due to low compression which means it about wore out and due for some overhauling.

PULLED nut ,used mini skid steer with forks under tire,it slid right off,brake drums were in very good cond. no groove,,brake pads half inch above rivet. put new air chambers on ,work good, may adjust  slack adjusters after a lil more road  driving. Try to start on Mack smoking next week .
