Other dog, lost my "keyboard" but those r.r based semi autos shifted by computer, the "driver" was spared  having to learn difficult tasks like double clutching, timing downshifts, or the "unthinkable" correct rpm drop to " float" the tranny to get a million miles out of a clutch!  They were similar to the semi autos used in lambos and other exotic cars. The major difference was the major goal was to assist the major carriers in hiring the least experienced (read lowest paid) "drivers" they could attract. Also I'm sure to avoid having to replace high dollar trannys at 200k! Read in Car and driver they are testing a driverless truck!lol I predicted that yrs ago! many, if not most new drivers can't even drive a stick. The new Florida drivers test no longer includes parallel parking!

I always get a good laugh when I read another news article about some thug attempting to jack a car, only to abort mission and flee on foot when they can't get the dern thing to go...foiled again by a manual transmission.

When approaching a 4-way stop, the vehicle with the biggest tires has the right of way!
