42-DE Window Regulator Question

Question

Prior to installing new side window glass I removed the window regulators to insure they would operate smoothly. Glad I did, the grease and debris attached to the gears was like glue. However, both the regulators did their job and mated with the 7-bolt holes in the doors perfectly. However, they were made differently. Attached is a  photo of them, one is a little more robust than the other. CAN ANY OF THE EXPERTS DETERMINE WHICH ONE IS CORRECT? Being a 1942 DE manufactured just prior to the halt of civilian production in Feb 42 the possibility exists that they were using up parts to finish these trucks prior to the dead line------ANY THOUGHTS WOULD BE APPRECIATED Thanks!

The top one that is less robust would most likely be the war time one, with rivets and smaller spring coils and other simplified parts mainly as the saving on use of steel for non weapon/armor production and for minimally trains people to assemble.   Paul

The style shown on top match what is in the 1941 DE and a 1939 EF I had a while back.

Change of design or vendor?  The ED/DE were done and did not return after the war but the E's continued for years after the war and the doors were the same on the model EF, EQ, etc.

It doesn't cost anything to pay attention.
