First off I will say I am still loving my Mack! I had the CEL light come on way back when the truck was almost new. It was a code from the air side of the module that runs the 7th injector. It was replaced and no problem since. Aside from that, the truck has been essentially flawless. There have been a few minor things like the foil hood liner fell down when the truck was 5 months old. The bunk blower motor would "chirp" on low, so it was warrantied and the new one sounded the same from day 1 hah. I ordered the truck with these "upgraded" Bostrom seats. I think it was a 1200 dollar option if memory serves. I love how they look and the deep copper color with the Synthetic leather, but total and absolute junk. The seat heat has quit working 3 times (currently not working). Rubber bumper stops on the seat base broke off on one side only the first day I had the truck. So I drove it sitting crooked for 3 mths while I waited for a complete hardware kit to be shipped. You cant just order the bumpers. When the new ones arrived, I installed them myself taking extra care to not damage or cut them in any way during installation. 45 miles down the road, the new one was rolling around on the floor. So I ripped em both off and now just drive with an un level seat. And the mechanism that locks the front cushion that slides out behind your knees broke apart and was sitting on the floor. One of the lumbar doesn't work either. But the seat still goes up and down, swivels, and the arm rests are still attached. Maybe my expectations are just too high. Oh and I have replaced a belt tensioner under warranty as well. So aside from the garbage Bostrom seats, this truck has been great! I run produce up and down the I 15 corridor for a carrier of about 30 trucks. The companies trucks are a mix of not older then 6 year old t660/680 Kenworths. They are Paccar powered (still a few Cummins in the old trucks but being phased out due to a list of issues with them) most of the Paccar powered trucks seem to be performing reasonably well. They are all 450 horse with low rolling resistance super singles, and a few auto shifts in the mix. My Mack is the 505c+ with 1860 torque an Eaton 13 speed and low rolling resistance tires with duals. My Mack not only out performs all of the fleet trucks, but it consistently is the leader for fuel economy month after month. My lifetime AVERAGE is 7.51 us mpg. That is miles divided by gallons. That average includes a full Canadian winter (-30's and -40's), and a full summer. The last few months I have been JUST shy of 8 mpg for an average. Anyways, this has been long winded enough for now. I will write another long winded boring update as time and miles go on! I replace buns every year or two and they just fall apart. Yeah these seats are gonna go in the dumpster before too much longer. It's a real shame. Not only did they cost 1200 bucks, they LOOK really good. They are just terrible to sit in. Grammer and Sears roughly tie for second place. CVG's US market Bostrom and National are cheap in quality and obsolete in design. Basically, they're throw-away seats. You spend 100% of your time driving in a seat so it pays to have a good one, and at $1200 you'd think you were getting a good one. Nice to see you beating them daf, I mean paccar engines for fuel and power.
