Can anyone tell me if it is a federal and/or state DOT rule that every truck today must have those round convex mirrors out front either attached to the fender or stuck out on the side of the hood?? Are convex mirrors mounted on the door mirror frames not allowed or "politically correct" anymore?

no law requiring fender mount spot mirrors. it is just common sense to have them to eliminate blind spots. just like new yawk city trucks have spot mirrors on the front to see in front of the truck in the blind spot directly in front of the radiator. not a law yet, but a smart thing to have so you do not run over someone directly in front of the truck

when you are up to your armpits in alligators,

it is hard to remember you only came in to drain the swamp..

The best spot mirror l ever had came off a school bus. lt looked like a cat's eye and mounted at a 45' angle on the right front fender. You could see both down the right side and across the grill/bumper in one glance. Watch the lug nuts go round or check if a headlight or fog light was out too!      Hippy
