I guess the way I look at this is simple, if I stand out on a sidewalk and photograph you in your living room while wearing my press hat is that right? I would say without your consent its not! so what happens inside an enclosure is  just as private as your house.

Apparently not. My Marmon appears on a Hanks members photo page. My unit was in the back yard and the photo was taken with a telephoto lens. The law states the photographer had every legal right to take the photo  from off my property. In fact if I use his photo of MY truck, I'm in violation of the law unless I get his permission. The is a law on photographers rights!

I hear you. You know that I do. But if they're standing on a public sidewalk, yes, it's legal. Hence the invention of the curtain.

My point is Freedom of the Press.

Let me ask you, before Snowden, did you honestly believe that your e-mails were confidential? That nobody had access to them besides you?

Select media, at great danger to themselves, brought this shocking revelation to the attention of the masses (one is living in virtual exile in Brazil now).

Back when I was renting, I looked out my front window and saw a car on the street taking pictures of my house. So, INSIDE my house, I picked up my rifle and aimed it out the window.

I was pretty certain they were looking in through the window, because they peeled out getting the F out of there in quite the hurry.

I don't take kindly to folks sticking their nose in my business.

When approaching a 4-way stop, the vehicle with the biggest tires has the right of way!

Hey, I'm just hanging out INSIDE my home. The ONLY way they would've known I had a gun pointed in their direction was if they were peeping...which is a crime in and of itself. Had I stepped out onto the porch and aimed at them, sure, there may have been some issues...but sitting on the couch in my living room, well, I have the right to do as I please.

That's the risk that comes with a free press- Look at how VW's excess diesel emissions have been blown all out of proportion by the media. But thanks to the same free press, the story of Watergate came out and corrupt Nixon left office. They may get it wrong some times, but I'll take a free press over propaganda any day!

Commie? Which one of us?

The Soviet Union don't even exist anymore, they gave up on communism damn near 3 decades ago, only place you'll find "commies" there is in a museum. The eastern bloc countries followed the USSR's example. China? The leaders may still make all the party banquets and even the occasional party meeting, but they behave like capitalists with a vengeance. Let's see, where might we still find any "commies"? Cuba's going capitalist ASAP, so none left there. North Korea? Sounds more like a corrupt megalomaniac dictator there than communism.

So looks like you'll have to visit a museum to find any "commies". Guess you'll just have to find someone else to hate...

Easy guys. I know we're a tight knit group that speaks our minds, but......ease up a bit. Our varied opinions is what makes for an interesting conversation. There are a wealth of truths in your posts, but we should all be above name calling. That's what makes us gentlemen.

Democrats are one DNA strand from a communist. Single payer health, welfare, government control of everything sounds like communism to me, now remember what your mom told you, only the truth hurts, and when you call a democrat a communist they get their feelings hurt. hence the truth speaks to their real plan they just don't want you to know. Being from NH and living in the south I get called all kinds of names, I smile and let the know how much I love the south. At least they did not vote for the current idiot in the White house (not the peoples house).

So our commie friend brings up Nixon who was a good president just got up in covering some crap that really was insignificant compared to what has gone on today, Clintons, Weiner, Frank

Not Commie, a Democratic Socialist.  They dislike Communism rabidly.

Pinko, commie, democrat, socialist, flag burners, tree huggers, Clinton, Obama all the same to me.

Much more dangerous that all of the above and generally call themselves Progressives. They mobilize the followers and sponsor groups like B.L.M. and ACORN/SEIU They control all the unions, the schools and teachers,  a good number of judges, most all of the media and push causes under the battle cry of saving the earth or righting wrongs committed years and years ago..Push until the Feds step in and make a law or mandate to federalize, control or stop the thing and than reward the protestors or the strikers in some way advantageous to the "cause".  They loosely follow Alinsky Rules  and Kruschev's promise to destroy use from with in.  . They stand behind the Constitution when it suits them and trashing it when it doesn't, obey laws the "like" and choose to ignore the ones they decree are unconstitutional. Much More Dangerous than all of the above

Sorry to disturb your conspiracy theories with reality, but this is entirely the native americans doing- In fact they're mad at Obama and Clinton for staying out of the controversy. The tribes quite rightly see this poorly engineered pipeline as a threat to their water supply and people, and they're uniting to fight it. As a small town water system operator, if they tried to build such a poorly engineered pipeline upstream of our water supply, I'd be fighting it too.

Neither. The Bakken boom is over, and with U.S. oil consumption dropping, there may never again be a need for "oil by rail" or additional pipelines from the Bakken. This is a reality we all need to look at- world population is peaking, we're consuming less energy, meat, etc., so expanding capacity in fossil fuel production, farming, etc. is becoming foolhardy. If it's ever completed, this pipeline may in fact be mothballed for years because there's no great need for it.

this is great news! now we don't have to worry about carbon taxes or global warming........I just wish you scientists would get your story straight :P

Sounds more like all the reason to vote conservative, peaking population, less oil consumption, sounds looks a good time to save money, build less, spend less, stop all road construction, less trains (don't tell GE)  I think it's going the other way, I see more traffic, more roads being built to accomadate more traffic because of more people and the EPA up my butt more, Problem is we have been in mental depression since your hero took office and the real players have just road out the last 8 hoping that someone will come along that they can trust to help America not everybody else.

Last power line that came through here:  Power company made a deal with the tribe.  Paid them every cent they asked for.  Then tribal members beat drums and stoked a camp fire for months while demanded more.  Don't know what the tribe did with the money.  Can't believe they are upset with the present regime, they vote 95% or more "D."  Some times more votes then tribe members I hear!  Want to bet they do the same next month?

"Poorly engineered pipeline"  With all the government oversight, EPA, OSHA, county, state, federal, tribal regulation and oversight, highly skilled, trained, paid union labor...etc.  With that much help from the government and unions, how can we have anything but the best and safest pipelines?
