A lot of U.S. copied technology on the helis and fighter jets.

Very interesting watching towards the end with a quick shot of a frigate or destroyer launching torpedos. Dont think any other major navy does that anymore. More effective than rockets that are easily taken out with chain gun fire.  Paul

The scary part Paul is that they're not copying any more (no more than anyone else). Rather, they're now developing their own technology......they've learned how to run with the ball. They have the ability to invest deeply, and make quick decisions to do so.

The fighters aren't U.S. tech-based, rather it's an outgrowth of the Sukhoi SU-33 (purchased tech). But they made a lot of changes....themselves, resulting in a more capable aircraft.

Big business is at our helm. And with the power they have over our government, we are where we are today.

It was US companies who sent production abroad to China and elsewhere. Those countries didn't ask for it. Big business wanted the savings.

It should come as no surprise to any intelligent person that we have a trade deficit with China, when big business chooses to produce in China, and many other countries, for the US market.

China is smart, requiring global companies in key industries to produce there.....if they want to sell and profit there. On the flip side, the US government, at the behest of US automakers, paved the way with NAFTA allowing them to shift US market production out of the country to Mexico and elsewhere.

Recently listening to a local financial advisors morning show. He referred to a company from Wausau which was invited to manufacture in China. They were wined and dined for two weeks during which they toured affiliated, China based, businesses built by the Group. At the end of the proposals they layed down rules of engagement. The Wisconsin based business had to remain, indefinitely, below 1/2 of the business share ownership. Any design improvements made to the product, on Chinese soil, could not be legally reproduced or sold by the HQ business in Wisconsin, and a full etc etc etc list of unreasonable protective restrictions. They pulled out.

Foreign companies can not own more than 50 percent of a joint venture with a China domestic company.

Most of the targeting electronics, flight control computer systems, Vulcan type canons are Western tech. They made changes, improvements but the basic foundation is still our tech. Heli and Fighter Air frames  are basic Russian and European based models.

"U.S. bombs. U.S. targeting. U.S. mid air support. And we just bombed a SCHOOL BUS. The Saudi/UAE/U.S. bombing campaign is getting more reckless, killing more civilians, and strengthening terrorists inside Yemen. We need to end this - NOW."

Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT)

“By backing the Saudi coalition’s war in Yemen with weapons, aerial refueling, and targeting assistance, the United States is complicit in this atrocity. No one can seriously claim that our support for this war is actually making us safer. In fact, the opposite is true. Not only is this war fomenting hatred against the U.S. but, as we learned from recent reports, the Saudi coalition has been cutting deals with Al Qaeda in Yemen, one of the terrorist group’s most dangerous branches, which has the stated goal of attacking the United States. It’s time to end our support for this war and focus our efforts on a UN-brokered cease-fire and a diplomatic resolution.”

Senator Bernie Sanders (VT)

The United States “supplied a tremendous amount of weaponry and the data for targeting to the Saudis” [Response: State Dept. spokesperson Heather Lauert laughs].
