In 1998 I traveled to Kiev, Ukraine to help set up a satellite dish.  The heavy trucks over there looked EXACTLY like the grey one in the picture, except they were all painted white.   They were everywhere lumbering around Kiev, belching black smoke.  It was just like stepping back in time.  It was an hour drive to the site, so I had plenty of time to gawk.  No slope nose plastic crap for those guys.

Here is an ad from a 1994 ATHS Wheels of Time magazine where the restored FCSW water tanker is being sold by Tom Spencer,  He is also selling what is listed as a 1943 FCSW dump truck.  Maybe it is the same dump truck as the 1942 Nuss truck in the first picture and they initially were using the wrong date?

Whatever the story, glad that both trucks were saved and available for shows every so often.  Rare beasts!

Jim you're correct, kudos to both of these guys for preserving these Mack-nificent pieces of history most of us would only have been able to read about in a book. It takes a lot of " resources" to save such treasures. If not for these guys (& a few more),much of this stuff would be Chinese rebar.  Al
