replacing a back up switch on my 740 allison automatic trans.

what i need to know is should the truck be running or not when i thread out the switch on the trans.

some say have the engine running so you wont loose any trans fluid.

with engine off fluid will spill out.

has anybody changed theirs and how much fluid will come out.

thanks

sorry it took a while to catch my son to ask.

if older, no electronics, yes have engine running. fluid will get pulled up into torque convertor, thus dropping fluid level below switch
