Kinda confirms my suspicions- The Super Econodyne makes sense, but a good driver with a Maxitorque can beat the Volvo AMT. Same with the rear axles- It's hard to beat the near perfect driveline angles and low parasitic power losses of Mack axles. And now we find that the Mack cab is slipperier than Volvo's, despite being a decade older!

Key words....... GOOD DRIVER

Was anyone aware that the UPS Pinnacles of the last few years are MP7 405SE (SuperEconodyne) engines with 10speed fuller transmissions.

You can get the engine without the Mdrive.

They go like heck when we road test them.

Actually if spend most of your time in 16th gear on a T318 you'll gain an additional 1% in fuel economy due to direct drive ratio. Same concept as mDrive direct drive box or Eaton 10 spd  FR directs. 9th in a 10 spd, 11th in a 13 spd and 16th in a 18 spd are all direct drive gears (of course in an OD box) and will save additional  fuel. Volvo has package "take me back home" where you run in 11th loaded (direct) to save fuel and 12th unloaded (OD) for speed. Mack doesn't offer. A good driver can keep in direct most of time with 2 series axle ratio.

Only the single axles we got in 2012, everything since is either tandem with dummy axle or full twin screws with mp8's and the mdrive.

Not here.  The single drive with dummy axle has MP7 405SE

Have yet to see any MP8 powered UPS tractor in for dealer work yet.

Havn't seen any twin drives up here yet either.
