About 14" here in the Bethlehem/Allentown area. Was supposed to get 18-24" but we had the *FUN!* of it changing over to rain and sleet a few times, which layered itself into the snow, and anyone who did not have shoveling done by nightfall on Tuesday (ended here around 4pm) the snow all turned into concrete and it became impossible to shovel or blow. Could only be pushed or broken apart and then shoveled. I went outside 3 times, once around 7am, again around 12 and finally at 4 and did all the sidewalks and neighbors places. Thank god....

Penndot really dropped the ball with keeping Route 412 open from the Bucks County/Northampton County line through Hellertown. There was 2-3" of hard packed ice and snow and it was like driving on some ancient dirt road. But 412 from the interchange at Interstate 78 to the Sands Casino was clean all the way down to the asphalt. Gotta get those bus loads of people from New York City into that Casino!!!!

Schools have been closed since Tuesday. I HOPE they reopen on Monday.  Please Please Please

Tues/Weds/Thurs here. Our babysitter was ready to go batshit crazy- she usually only has Extra Small during the day. Instead she had XS, S, M and L all day all three days.

we were supposed to get around 18 inches. but the storm tracked west along the delaware river and we only ended up with 6 inches. 2 of snow and 4 of sleet and then finished with rain which turned it all to solid ice once the sun went down.

it is hard to remember you only came in to drain the swamp..

In my day, they simply put snow chains on the rear tires of the Ford (1961-1966 vintage*) school buses and we went to school as normal. Things have changed a lot since then. At the sight of a few snow flakes, they shut down the schools.

I graduated in 98 and I can remember a few times when I was in elementary that they had chains on the buss but never after.

the first school bus  I rode was 46 dodge  I was same age as the bus

Mine was a Brockway of about the same vintage.. Actually rode Brockways most of my public school time.

In the late 60's I worked for the town highway dept in Central Square NY and we started at 0300, plowed 6 to 12 inches of new snow off the road, sanded them, and the school buses ran on time!!

for us it was a chevy C-65 chassis with 350 small block, 5 speed trans, and a thomas bus body. the local apple farmer owned all the school buses in town. and they were all the same exact thing.

My kids went to School today!   We got around 18".    Worst part was the 20-30mph wind and the drifting.    Like 1958 said I was as out about 3-4 times Tuesday.    All this snow and I still couldn't find and local snow bunnies.  Just the girls from Gladys.  image.jpg.29e03f89bfc83a2b0563d8f6b7c004ff.jpg

Now if I was to come to the US were would I find these snow bunnies ??????

I was just telling my daughters about chains on the bus and how they would make the bus vibrate. Oh the good old days!:thumb:

Wow u guys, the memories! The first school bus I rode was a Federal, late forties, slightly resembled a Diamond T the owner had a fifties Federal too the one with the split chrome grille. We lived on highway 19,about 8 miles N of Canonsburg pa .before daybreak I would listen for cars with chains on them! If it snowed enough to put chains on there was a good chance school would be cancelled!😁 there was a steel company in Washington pa that ran a fleet of chain drive Mack straight jobs they had half cabs so they could haul long sections of angle and channel iron. You could hear their drive chains ringing a half mile away ! If  school.was cancelled my buddy Butch and I had a 46 Plymouth hood, we would both get on it and ride down a really steep hill in the woods nearby! We both had Radio flyer sleds, but the hood was more fun! There was a really steep reddog road behind my dad's salvage yard and I was flying down it on my sled, Butch was right behind me,well our neighbors 49 Ford drifted down his driveway right in front of me! I hit it's back bumper with my face! I had a broken nose, probably a concussion, and was bleeding like a stuck pig! Butch helped me up the stairs to our house, my poor mother looked like she would have a stroke!  Somehow I managed to survive! Kids today don't know what they're missing!😁

I think they are natives to "other dog's" stomping grounds somewhere in central Virginia.

We have them here also. I hit the slopes with my brother back about 25 years ago when he was in town and my wife made it very clear not to bring home any "snow bunnies" So i guess they do exist!

Live every day like it's your last, because one of these days, it will be.
