Hi, I have a Sheppard steering box on my 94 CLR and it has just started to bind or lock, has anyone else experienced this on theirs. So when I am turning or just adjusting the steering particularly to the right it locks and I have to pull on the steering to release it. thanks

Before doing a box, how is the universal joint from the steering shaft to the box ? (may be a second universal at the column under the dash, not sure on you right hand drive set up) Worn or dry will cause a bind. Somewhat easy to check.  Pull the shaft off the box and run the joint through it's full range and you should feel any binding.

"Highway tractor" or "tractor"  (prime mover pulling a trailer(s), "straight truck" or "truck" (like a dump, roll off, cement mixer) around here anyway.

is there a screen in the PS res that could be blocked, starving the system?  Had a similar issue with a Volvo feed truck.  The steering would just "freeze" randomly.  I checked everything i could, turned out to be a little filter in the PS can.  Took it out, cleaned the screen and the can, reassembled and it was fine.

Lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part....
