Sir, I do not appreciate you posting blatantly insulting comments on my thread (2018 Ford F-150 News) that are an attack on a fellow BMT member.

This was an innocent thread about the 2018 Ford F-150, and you came along and destroyed its pleasant tone by insulting another member's intelligence.

As I said on Friday, this is getting old real fast. 

Socially-accepted norms of behavior on forums disallow name-calling, personal insults, threats, profanity and vulgarity.

TeamsterGrrrl, in her comments below, did not attack you, nor anyone else. And yet you insulted her not once, but twice. I would never respond to your posts with heartless insults. I must respect everyone's opinion.

I like manuals, but after eight decades the automatics have caught up. And training time is a factor too- I was at a training for water system operators the other day, and was amazed how much training it takes to run a water treatment plant properly. So should we give a new water system operator a weeks less training in running water systems so we can teach them how to drive a municipal truck with a stick shift?

Rowdy, if we're hiring someone to run the water system, it doesn't matter if they can drive a stick shift or not. At the water operator training the other day every municipal truck in the parking lot had an automatic. I drove my own car there and was probably the only attendee that shifted gears to get there! You might also note that the law also protects people with disabilities from discrimination, which means if our best applicant didn't have two functional legs we'd have to provide an automatic transmission vehicle.

Like a Bulldog and anyone in the truck business, nobody here is thin-skinned. But I suggest we all make a conscious effort to respect each other's differing opinions and refrain from insults. After all, at the end of the day, though we each hail from different "necks of the woods", we're all one big family.

We all have just one life and it's far too short. Enjoy yourself on BMT, and enjoy your life. And it's far easier to with a smile and positive outlook. 

 

Get off your high horse and work on your own reading comprehension skills.  When I make a post that clearly says something, and somebody tries playing "gotcha" by fraudulently making claims that I meant something other than what was said, it deserves to be called out for what it is: A total lack of reading comprehension skills.  Thank you for pointing out your own deficiencies by coming to her defense!

What the hell kind of stupid question is that?  Sorry if I'm a bit old school in my writing...learned before "he or she" became popular, and as I resist the PC BS the left likes to force upon society, I still use "he" and "him" to describe a person of an unknown/irrelevant gender and the term "mankind" to describe all of humanity.  As for women and their ability to drive manual transmissions, my wife just pulled out of the driveway heading to work.  She's driving my F250 today...5-speed and all.  Again, my use of the term "he" was meant in a gender neutral manner and has nothing to do with the level of gender specificity the nuts on the left want people to think they have to use, as it gets ridiculous saying "he or she" a dozen times within a paragraph.  Hell, even if I HAD said "he or she" you'd be questioning whether or not I thought transgenders or gender-confused individuals ought to be included.  The left simply won't be content until nobody talks to anybody because everything is somehow twisted to be offensive to someone.  F--- that.  If you are offended by what I said, it is your problem not mine.

Reread what I wrote. I was talking only about this thread that I started.

I was not dredging up old history about other threads, rather I was addressing the present about this thread, talking about posts just made.

When one member insults another member on a thread that I started, I take it personally, as my integrity was been slighted.

I don't owe you a damn thing, especially not an apology.  If you want one, look for it elsewhere because it'll be a cold day in hell before you get one from me.  I didn't do a damn thing to you other than state the truth, and if you are offended by that truth it is on you.  Don't like it? READ the posts you are replying to and make sure your response is RELEVANT to what was posted.  Only you can change that, so don't come crying to me seeking an apology you don't deserve.

Now that's not very nice.......you're just picking on the Ford engineers now. These trucks were never designed for manual transmissions. Also, it'd take a hefty tranny to stand up to the increased torque. Then you'll be losing efficiency.

And yes, Rowdy should apologize to Kscarbel. Ks did not insult Rowdy. There are certain things that people will never agree on. People can learn to be adults though and be respectful. 

He parroted the same false BS as the member he chimed in to defend.  If that's what he wants to do, he needs to be prepared to be called out for it, same as that other member.  I did not insult, only pointed out the fact that reading comprehension skills are lacking and they should read what was actually posted to avoid appearing foolish.  I also pointed out the stupidity of a question that was asked of me because had they read what I had previously posted, they wouldn't have been asking the question.

I owe nobody an apology, so they ought not be expecting one.  If that hurts their "feelings", tough cookies.  That doesn't entitle you to an undeserved apology.

No, I hadn't heard...now that I look closely I can see "banned" below her name.  Dark theme, black letters...no wonder it didn't jump out at me.  All I can say is "good riddance".

Now with all the BS associated with "self driving" cars, trucks, etc, the feature in this ad clip is the kind of thing they all should be concentrating on in the short term IMO.  True "crash avoidance" systems vs, "self driving" cars so some yupster can read his NY Times on his way to work-not that a lot of idiots are not currently doing that as they drive.

What’s New for 2018?

On the surface, the 2018 F-150 is refreshed with new grille designs, bumpers, exterior lighting, tailgates, and wheels. Under the hood is where the most significant updates are. Every F-150 powertrain has auto stop/start technology. This includes an all-new base 3.3-liter V-6 (replacing the old 3.5-liter version), a second-generation 2.7-liter EcoBoost V-6, and a heavily revised 5.0-liter V-8 with increased horsepower and torque. A diesel engine will join the party in spring 2018. Apart from the 3.3-liter V-6, every engine now pairs with Ford’s 10-speed automatic transmission. Several models have revised interiors with new colors, materials, and options. The infotainment system adds optional 4G LTE Wi-Fi connectivity and a high-end Bang & Olufsen audio system. Among the additional active safety assists are adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go functionality and forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection.

What Was New for 2017?

The 2017 F-150 lineup had mostly minor changes. The biggest addition was an all-new 10-speed automatic transmission that was previously only available with the twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6. An available STX appearance package was new, too. The paint-color palette added Lightning Blue, Avalanche, and White Gold as well.

Trims and Options We’d Choose

While we’ve gushed over the rowdy Raptor off-road specialist and its predisposition for pure, dumb fun, the practical purchaser will prefer the regular F-150. The well-rounded Ford can be outfitted for every occasion, from a bare-bones workhorse (starting at $28,675) to a luxury limo costing as much as $65,000 for the top-tier Limited trim. We think the mid-level Lariat SuperCrew with the six-and-a-half-foot cargo bed represents the best combination of versatility and value. The 325-hp twin-turbo 2.7-liter V-6 is the standard engine, but upgrading to the more powerful 375-hp twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6 only costs an extra $1600. That engine is responsive and quick, and it pumps out 470 lb-ft of torque. Adding all-wheel drive isn’t necessary for everyone, but the $3375 option is a must for harsh Michigan winters. Every Lariat has standout standard features such as:

• Leather-trimmed front bench with 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat
• 8.0-inch Sync 3 touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
• Proximity-key entry with push-button start

We’d also opt for the Max Trailer Tow package ($1295), which adds coolers for engine oil and transmission fluid, an electronic locking rear axle (3.55 axle ratio), a 36-gallon fuel tank, a trailer backup assist, and more.
