I'm need to disassemble the speedo assembly on the transmission. I would think that a small wrench on the tube and a big wrench on the nut. Can't break em.  Big wrench on the nut spins the whole assembly and the speedo adapter his case. Any thoughts.

What's the hose clamp for?

Typically there is a threaded sleeve at the bottom(below the hose clamp), knurled so you can grab it with your fingers and unscrew it from the transmission(which should have male threads like a garden hose on it).  Then lift the whole thing up.  It should look just like the end you removed the cable from.

That adapter is just to adjust speedometer reading.  Either speeds up or slows it down to match gear ratio/tire size.

Un screw the speedo finger nut on the trans where the cable would normally go, the adapter comes out  in one piece tub and angle head.

The solid shaft should break loose at the yoke housing. There will be a small keyed shaft inside of it (pencil shaft?) The one on the MB is longer to reach over the transmission. We had to spend some time and speak to it often to get it to come loose. Then it was into the vice to get the other end off...........Hippy
