how about all those that say they have or have driven a 300+ with a 5 speed.,If I only had a dollar for every argument I've gotten into over that claim.

Were the 5sp only available in the 237 and 285? What did the 300 and 350 come with 9sp and higher?

there were a lot of real 300's around new England that always seemed to have a 9 speed roadranger in them. dunno if this was just the spec? every 300+ I have seen had a 10 speed roadranger.i don't think that was the only option. most 237's 250's and 275's had 5 speeds, least the ones I have seen

Wide ratio transmissions like the 5 speed were (usually) only available with the Maxidyne engines. The Mack Maxidyne 6 came in 237, 285, 250, 275, 300, 335, and 370 HP denominations. IIRC the 335 and 370 were only available from 2001 to 2006. What is advertised as a "350" with a wide ratio 5 or 6 speed is usually a 300 or lesser engine.
