A city counsel acts fast

Wow !   The counsel men in Helena, the Montana capital, took no time at all to  have a fountain removed..      Wednesday of last week the counsel decided that a fountain in a park in Helena be taken down.  The fountain was given to the city in 1916 by the daughters of the confederacy....    I heard on the news Friday morning that it was   already in the works to dismantle and remove the fountain, the water had already been shut off...          Kind of amazing,  in less than 2 days a plan to do something, was already happening. Nothing government related ever happens that fast.    To remove a fountain that 90% of the people the news reporter interviewed, DID NOT want it removed..   It was not a statue of anyone. It was a fountain in a garden area  in a park that had water flow out of the top.

It was the only confederate monument in the northern Rockies. PC moves fast I guess.

At least they publically announced that they were going to do it and didn't pull a "Baltimore."

Funny thing is, these leftist groups are no different than ISIS, bulldozing and destroying historic places and artifacts they don't like.  Our history is what it is, and if we don't have ways to remember that history it will be forgotten...and you know what they say about those who forget history.

 

Down in Paducah, there is talk about renaming a school.  Problem is, the school wasn't named after a Confederate soldier, but rather his WIFE.  Her children wanted a way to remember and honer her, so they paid for the school to be built and donated it to the community in her honor to bear her name.  If I were the decendents, I'd be looking into what legal recourse was available to possibly reclaim that donated property as it would no longer be honoring their grandmother/great grandmother/etc as intended.  Name stays or we take it back and keep the name, only now if you want to continue using it you can rent it from us...or we'll close the school altogether and turn it into a museum. 

 

This white-washing of history won't make history go away, and it only creates tension between the 90% who want to remember vs the 10% who are out to cause trouble.

When we censor our history by disguising our scars, we belittle the struggles our ancestors fought so hard to overcome. America doesn't cower behind political correctness. It defiantly and courageously moves forward, with its history as a reminder of where we have been.

The cancer spreads. This is the second Columbus statues vandalized  because Columbus was what? an explorer? George Orwell's fiction seems to becoming to pass.

Now one question the annual Democrat Jefferson / Jackson dinner event still on? as they seem to be the main group pushing the purge of all our history.

I'm still waiting for them to start demanding FDR's name be stripped from buildings, highways, and all public property, too, as he illegally violated the Constitutional Rights of hundreds of thousands of Japanese Americans when he stripped them of their property and relocated them to internment camps.  Or to do the same with Robert Byrd of WV, who was a leader in the KKK and filibustered the Civil Rights Act of 1964.  There is a LONG list of democrats unworthy of memorials if the criteria is what the left says it is with regards to these Confederate memorials...but they aren't rioting to have THOSE removed!  Hypocrites.

It seems it will take the kind of insanity we are seeing with these factions WAY overstepping the rights of American to get the average joes attention...but when they do, we get President Trumps and what ever else it takes to hold this country together and American.

Mowerman, I remember all that pc bulls..t about removing nativity scenes in the late 70s, the Jewish holidays fall around the same time as Christmas, so our local school put up a nativity scene and a menorah!, problem solved!
