Is it difficult for a right handed driver to learn to shift left handed? Those drivers on "Outback Truckers" can't all be leftys!

Dunno about a truck, but I rented a Renault 1.5 td 5 spd in Ireland and it took some getting used to.  I think it would have been easier if the shift pattern was reversed but of course it wasn't.  Took a couple of days before I was really comfortable with it (that and driving on the other side).  Would love to try it in a truck.

BTW, Swishy, that FR is absolutely spectacular.  Don't know that I've seen anything quite as nice.  Thank for posting it.

later Models They put the "F" cab on a "R" model Chassis Hence the different Steering arrangement you noticed.. This is Why Most aussie F models have the "FR" model designation..

What chassis was the earlier F models put on?

They used the American F model Chassis.

That's why the Steering Box was Mounted on the LHS, & they used the Push bike chain & sprockets to get the Steering Wheel on the RHS..

I've got a Book on the History of Mack trucks Australia, with some good pictures. I'll dig It out & scan them for you..(but Not today)
