I wanted to check the trunion bushings on my water wagon yesterday morning although I'm not having any problems with walk or drift yet. The tracking seems to be fine with a driver following and watching.

One of the best ways to check these I've found is to be backing slowly with the driveline loaded, (such as backing up a small incline or dragging the brakes) and set the air brakes while the truck it still moving slowly backwards. This doesn't let anything settle into a low spot and as you can see in the photo, reveals some slop that couldn't be seen otherwise.

These are 38K on rubber and I have a spare pair of bushings so they will probably go in shortly.

Getting ready to pull the tank from the truck to start figuring on an RV conversion to the chassis. May purchase a new van body but haven't decided if wanting to build something, or modify something. Probably wind up purchasing a rolled over camper for the interior donors but undecided on that too. "Momma" hasn't given me my plans or opinions yet, so the anticipation builds.

Too bad you didn't say that a few months ago. I bought an Autocar DC64B  motor home conversion at an insurance sale. Corner of the camper was burned from the exhaust stack. I stopped at a scrap yard near the auction site and gave them $200 to remove it with a back hoe because I only wanted the cab and chassis. Aside from some smoke smell it was actually pretty nice.   Paul

Well which ever route you go Rob please (as I’m sure you will) document this thoroughly. I’ve been wanting to turn a semi into an event for years. Thought an air stream mounted on a b model would look great. Also thought on of those incendent command center emergency vehicle would make an excellent rv platform.

The problems we face today exist because the people who work for a living are outnumbered by the people who vote for a living.

I wasn’t talking about buying a new incident command vehicle but more like one retired from the fleet so to speak. Ranchhopper posted one he saw for sale on here a year or two ago and it was a low mileage r model. I believe it was under $6000 for the vehicle and since it was an incident command unit it had a bathroom, on board generator and curbside plug ins as well.

My way of thoughts on the matter is different. For a long while I tinker with an idea to make a camper body of a water tank. Sure plenty of troubles to and the final result wouldn't be as comfortable as a common van box style but seems nice to keep an original tanker look of a truck.

That's an interesting idea Vlad. It would be way more work to turn a tanker into a camper but man it would be neat.

Looking the above picture I'd make the top elevating and a pair of canvas at the sides would form essential walls. The only trouble you would have to crawl on your knees along the kitchen if lazy to transform the body on a short stop :)
