A few of our 5th wheels have some slack in them, one a Holland the other a Fontaine. I have tried adjusting them with very little improvement. The local parts house suggests replacing with a Jost. I was wondering what your guy's thoughts about rebuilding them were.

I just rebuilt mine. I have a k-hitch which I don’t think you get over there. It’s a jost style of turntable. Anyway to cut a long story short, it was just the jaw that was worn. Lucky for me cause it’s an older model and the new rebuilt kit didn’t exactly fit. Jost is a German Company, & in My opinion their products are First Class....

That dealer is either clueless, or more likely just wants to push what they sell. In fact, Jost fifth wheels are the gold standard worldwide.

Work at saf Holland,  woodstock ontario . Jost wheels are simpler to operate and maintain.  Parts wise ? Some of their parts are of questionable quality.  I am certified 5th wheel builder and we get jost wheels in our facility and build most of the paccar products . We use jost cause it's cheaper,  installed on sliders and brackets made by us . Its assembled in our facility . I wont be really concerned too much about realabilty , they are realable , the cast its self is lighter then the saf Holland cast we machine , but as I said , the only reasoun we use jost wheels is the price .
