Hi all! My friend and I have a 1989 Mack cabover Midliner model MS250P, 24-ft. box, with 5-speed transmission (Renault G405, I believe), and for some reason the transmission quit working from the cab lever. We can't figure out where it is disconnected and how to repair it. We can see that the rod slides in and out as normal with the cab tilted, but when back down, the shifter feels totally disconnected. My friend found a small coil spring on the ground after tilting the cab, but don't know where it came from or if it has anything to do with the mechanism. We are handy, but we aren't mechanics. Nothing in our fat Mack manual says a thing about this linkage. Any ideas?

Did you ever find a fix for this problem?  I have the same issue and use a pair of vice grip pipe pliers to hold the two tubes together.  All I can do is move it around the yard in 1st and reverse and is not road worthy.  Eventually I would like to fix it permanently so as to move it from the storage yard and drive it on the road.  Any help will be appreciated; found nothing on internet concerning the problem except for you.  Thanks,  AL
