ST in the model implies it's 38k rears, not 44. What's the front axle rating? Could make a nice light duty tandem dump truck for someone if the front axle has any beef to it.

I always thought the ST meant six wheel tractor.     terry

Pretty sure it denotes Camelback rating. 38k is ST, 44k is S, 55k+ is SX... 

I don't think Mack knows if it's getting a 5th wheel or a stake body when they put a model number on it.

My information for the suffix is as follows

 

T - Tractor

S - Six wheel chassis

L - Light weight components

X - Extreme duty

 

 

Before Don Schumaker retired you could get a copy of the FS2 form (Factory Order) practically overnight, but now it takes months to get the information. His knowledge is missed.

Front is 12K.  Mack.

Rear is 44K.  Mack.  Bronze bushing.

from looking at it I can see  what looks like a double frame  so it ain't all that light

Tractor configuration " ST " could have 38 or 44 lb rears the "S" was for DM / RD / MR series which had 44 LB

Well I believe the ST denotes six wheel tractor i currently own a 1987 R686ST with a 44k suspension ran the vin past mack to confirm as built oddly I had owned a 1989 R688ST with a 38k suspension both have an e6 350 so not sure what R685,R686, R688 specifically denote
