Back in 1910, Autocar was racing to keep up with demand for its trucks - but still built fancy cars, too. This Autocar Type XX ("Type 20") cost the equivalent of $126,000, but it did have over 25 HP. 1f62e.png😮 In 1911 Autocar built its final car and focused exclusively on trucks. #ThrowbackThursday #TBT

It's September, so it was a perfect 89 degrees and sunny in El Paso, Texas today. But summer temps can hit 110 and above, so the City of El Paso specs their Autocar ACX trucks with extra air-con to keep their drivers safe and comfortable. Some things just naturally go together -- like Autocar Trucks and Cummins Inc Diesel engines. This brochure dates to the late 1940s, but the first Cummins-powered Autocar was built in the mid-1930s, even before the #AutocarDC. Yo, that's 80+ years ago.

Early in the morning or late into the night, either way, the garbage has to get picked up. The City of Alexandria, Virgina, counts on their #AutocarACX trash trucks to get the job done. #TruckoftheMonth #AlwaysUp AlexandriaVA.gov

Is this the ultimate #ThrowbackThursday post? A 1907 Autocar Model XV runabout driven by two of Autocar founder LS Clarke's great grandchildren - taken at LS Clarke's old house near Ardmore, Pennsylvania.

Thanks to current owner of both house and auto, Jim Alexandre. Beep beep! #TBT

Red, yellow, or fluorescent green? Who's to say what's the best color for a #firetruck, as long as it's an #Autocar. This 1990 Autocar ACL64B tanker first served the West Chester, PA Fame Fire Co. as No. 53, then as Good Will No. 52. Thanks to Kevin Burress for sharing.

Yes, it's plowing season already in the Dakotas. Back in 1941 the Town of Pomfret, New York was proud to show off their new Autocar C8044 (four-wheel-drive) truck with optional "Tropicaire" heater. With about 100" of snow a year, that 11 foot wing got plenty of use.

Thanks, Mike Lusher.

The problems we face today exist because the people who work for a living are outnumbered by the people who vote for a living.

The government can only "give" someone what they first take from another.

*** Happy Birthday to Us! *** Autocar is 122 years old today. 🎈🎂🎁 Here's our founder, the engineer, inventor, and tech entrepreneur, Louis S. Clarke, driving Autocar No. 2.

Today, this landmark of American history is in the collection of the The Henry Ford Museum.

We never did figure out what that flat exhaust tip is for on the yellow West Chester fire truck from October 9th.

I am not a fire guy but will speculate that is a quick disconnect for the vehicle exhaust extraction hose which is connected to the truck while it is inside the firehouse.

It doesn't cost anything to pay attention.

Can you believe it? This 1911 Model XXI Autocar Fire Truck could carry 3,000 lbs of equipment including 1,000 feet of fire hoses. No wonder firemen had so much pride in their equipment.
