Drove something similar many years back.  Ryder rental.  427/5spd/2 spd rear.  Gas was still way less then a buck a gallon!!

Notice it has headers on it?

Similar configuration to our log truck on the farm, though 11 years newer and much cleaner! Not sure how power would be with an automatic behind the 427. It would still have to be better than the '77 C60 we ran for a long time, 350 SBC 5+2 manual transmission and electric shift rear end.
