Mack newbie Posted July 30, 2019 Share Posted July 30, 2019 I’m new to the forum trying to learn all I can about Mack dump trucks. I was given the assignment by a non-profit I volunteer on to find an R685 single axle dump truck. Didn’t know it was going to be such a needle in a hay stack. Finally found one. It’s a 1986 RD685P with an 11’ dump bed. It also has what I’m told is a “hard nose” or steel nose. Looks different from all the other R685’s I looked at. It has a twin stick transmission I think they call a 6-speed. I’d like to learn more about the engine, transmission, and the steel nose. It really looks cool. Thanks. alex g Posted July 31, 2019 Share Posted July 31, 2019 If you give serial numbers to a Mack dealer they should be able to tell you specs on truck.
