I know where that's all at. My lips are sealed

As I said earlier in this tread I know where all this is but holding the tongue for a while. I hope that Captain Crutch is going to get his parts and not take forever as there is just to much good stuff there to hold off all the Mack hound dogs, we are all friends here, Right? I think there maybe a  prototype or two there as it is in true Mack country all you have to do is look.

Some on here want to keep this location secret. I can't say I blame them. I saw it on google maps from a clue on this thread which has since diserpeard. The authors have the right to edit. I don't think anyone would object to your doing some old fashion detective work looking at truck salvage yards around Allentown or Macungie. That's all I have to say about that and I hope I didn't step on anybodies toes.

Difference is I need firetruck parts specifically, and this place has the exact parts I need and I know them so I know I’m not gonna be charged an arm and a leg. It’s not really a secret, I’m just not gonna give out the location until I can be sure I have the parts I need. If someone else want to reveal the location of this place then I won’t try to stop them. I just ask that people leave the fire engines alone for a little while.

Who needs a back yard when you could have a :mack1: Yard?!

  • 5 months later...

I guess I forgot to let you all know where I found this stuff, well I won’t tell you directly yet but all you need to know are in the background of these pictures... they’ve been helping me out with my old LS and I figure they deserve the attention...

If you end up there be sure to tell them what you’re working on and they’ll be able to point you in the right direction...

Damn if that daycab MH wouldn't make a fine lowboy tractor.

I went back and looked, I think all the MHs are integral sleepers in this guys yard. If you want the V-Mack one sitting there it looks like it wouldn't be too much work to fix up again. I will say, these trucks are constantly being parted out so if you want to get a truck out of there you've gotta do ti when you can. The MHs and the line of CFs are still sitting where they were in the original pictures for the most part, but some of the other stuff moves around a bit.

sure would like to come out of retirement  and work in that shop. .looks like the days  when a mechanic rolled his toolbox to a job;   NOT a computer.. my day off would be spent with a loader hooking and moving all the iron outside so oil would coat the top half of gears in drivetrains . good to have all the iron  , but  dampness from ground raises havoc  as the yrs go by .

They've got all their most useful parts under cover on palats...

Other than that, yeah I love the place, they only work on old iron so the shop is set up for that kind of work.

not much of a TV guy, the pickers show is a setup deal. being in TN now , I went to their store in Nashville. point is I watch the show to see the number of places that still have acres of  good stuff .  old iron  be it trucks, tractors  etc. i'd like to follow them just to see the barns full of history, and the ole timers that have stories . many yrs back I went to the Kemp museum  in NH . honored to have talked with Mr  Kemp.  acres of great  trucks. have a few pictures some where .

Sorry for the rest of these pictures being upside down... don’t know what the issue is! I’m sure you all can use your imagination to put them all on their wheels again...

They made me dizzy.  Did you ask about prices on the trucks?

He’s pretty much parting them out to whoever asks nicely... usually if he sells one it’s pretty cheap, a thousand or two or three depending on the truck. But he tends not to sell ‘em whole so much anymore ever since some local kids ransacked his yard and destroyed all the trucks and busses in it, many of which already had buyers that now needed to be refunded... it sucks but if you ask him I don’t know what he’ll say... might be different since they serve a somewhat bigger role in Mack history...

From what I can tell, there’s the white Superliner 2 with a Superliner 1 body that Mack used as a test mule, 2-3 of the inter-factory Ultraliners, one of which may have been a prototype/test mule, and a Vision(?) also owned and operated by Mack.

There a few Bs laying around, some Ls, an MB firetruck, a couple of MB cabs, a small selection of Es, a C, a few CFs, and a small fleet of Rs in different states of disassembly. That’s what I saw today...

Trucks there are constantly coming and going, just today they were parting out a CF because they’re going to take the drivetrain from it and putting it in a roll back. Most of the truck is pretty useless due to the damage sustained that took it off the road to begin with... we got a good many of the good parts off of it for ours and what we didn’t grab we’re either going back and getting in the next few day or someone else has dibs on it already.

Honestly there’s one factory Ultraliner that’s almost complete, and you could fix it the rest of the way up with parts off the other two... I’d like to do it myself, but swap cabs and motor off another one sitting farthest back in his field, because I don’t feel like dealing with a V-Mac system and the other cab is in better shape, but the chassis and drivetrain on the V-Mac one is pretty much complete! Unfortunately I don’t have the time, patience, or money to invest the stuff required to do it... figured maybe someone else would get inspired to do it if I threw the idea out there.

Wow, it s shame that this CL is in such bad shape. I think may have driven this exact one during their 100 yr anniversary. They had an event where you could drive one around the lot for $1. Do you think it would be worth a 4 hour drive to go sight seeing at this junkyard?

Absolutely, and he’s fine with letting people who are interested din them climb all over them and take what they want... including parts! He’s got a ton of trucks lying around... go see them while they’re there! I know if it was up to me atleast one those Ultraliners would be making its way to my barn right now if it sousing already be there... I can only imagine someone else with more cash has the same idea...

Saved as much as I could off this old girl... everything else is either destroyed or would have to be destroyed to get it off... she goes for scrap in the next few days... sad to see her go but sometimes these trucks are beyond usefulness to anyone.

Something on her water pump has been pained not quite firetruck red with a chunk of my knuckle and then some more😆... Unfortunately everything already has a taker in case anyone was interested... wasn’t much left by the time it was decided she’d be scrapped...
