On the engine I bought it has a trw 8met b  steering pump and mounted on the side of the oilpan just ahead of the pump is a vikers m 308 po40 valve that has marked on it in, return, feed. is this a flow valve or pressure valve? Thank you

Called a bunch of Vickers dealers and found out it is a flow control valve. What will that do for me on the steering?  The only thing I can figure it lowers the flow at high rpm. so my steering will be less sensitive driving down the road? Any thought's? Thank you

Limits flow to a certain maximum no matter what rpm(flow) the pump turns.   Yes, in a way it limits the pressure so it feels the same no matter what speed you run the engine.
