heat inside the building above 40 degrees will melt the bottom against the metal roofing layer and the rest will slide off. 

when you are up to your armpits in alligators,

it is hard to remember you only came in to drain the swamp..

As a building inspector I get to see a lot of projects. And whenever anyone asks me for advice, I always tell them two things-

1. In-Slab hot water radiant heat. Install a (very) small gas-fired boiler and get a HUGE amount of heat. (and remember, heat rises....)

2. Spray-Foam insulation. More costly initial investment but the return over the years is well worth it.
