Em6 300 with American Bosch 6bb-110t need little more power.

Question

I have a 1973 r model with a 1977 ends-676 em6 300. I’m wanting to get a little more power out of for hauling. I read about turning the fuel up a little and they said to take the 6 bolts off the cover on the back of the pump. Mine has the American Bosch 6bb-110t pump and it only has 5 bolts on the cover. I can only get the cover off about a 1/8 of a inch and it won’t come off. Am I doing the right thing? I just don’t want to break anything in it. Also any other suggestions on getting some more power would be great! Thanks in advance.
